About

I am a student in the Mental Health ASC program at the University of Northern Iowa. I will earn my certificate and licensure in August 2024. Prior to starting the mental health program at UNI I have worked as a school counselor for 10 years. I have extensive experience with children and adolescents, specifically ages 11-19.

“Therapy is not about fixing you, it's about helping you to heal yourself. Therapy is a safe space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment. Therapy is a process of learning how to love yourself, accept yourself, and forgive yourself. Therapy is a journey, not a destination.” To me, therapy is a journey about growing and learning. This is a journey that never truly ends. It is my honor to be present with individuals and families as they stretch through the growing pains of life and learn to love one another as well as themselves. Challenges are a normal part of everyone’s life. My role as the counselor is to assist folks with navigating those challenges in a strengths-based, mindful, and compassion-based approach.

Thank you for trusting me on your journey of growth and healing. I look forward to walking this path with you. Kudos to you for taking the hardest step: the first.
