HeartMath

The HeartMath system is a training tool used to reduce stress and increase physical, mental, and emotional well-being. HeartMath, as indicated in the name, focuses on the heart. The heart is the emotional center of our bodies, which sends messages to the brain about how we are feeling. The brain receives these messages and sends them out to the body, creating a physiological response. When we focus first on the heart, we are better able to regulate our emotions and improve our daily functioning and enjoyment of life.
The HeartMath system is professionally researched and consists of 5 mindfulness techniques (Heart Focused Breathing, Quick Coherence, Heart Lock-In, Freeze Frame, and Attitude Breathing), a sensor that is attached to one of the ear lobes, and an application on the computer that provides visual feedback about the client's heart rate variability and level of coherence. The goal in using this system is to increase coherence by regularly practicing the different mindfulness techniques and to replace negative depleting emotions, such as anxiety, frustration, and depression, with positive renewing emotions, including happiness, love/appreciation, and contentment.
The HeartMath system can be used with people of all ages and for acute, 4-5 sessions, and chronic conditions, 5-8 sessions.
